DStv MOBILE is the mobile television division of MultiChoice and has been tasked with the flagship challenge of taking Africa into the innovative and exciting realm of mobile television. With a focus on cellphone technology, it aggregates and produces mobile TV content and services for a number of mobile platforms and technologies. DStv MOBILE is working to integrate a range of valuable products and services into the mobile TV environment using both broadcast and streaming technologies.

DVB-H and 3G Streaming
Mobile television is accessible via 3G streaming (3G) and Digital Video Broadcast Handheld Technology (DVB-H).

The significant difference is DVB-H is a type of broadcast technology that utilises its own network of transmitters. In other words it does not use the same network as that used by cellphones nor the DStv service that beams programming to household televisions.   3G utilises the same infrastructure as that used by cellphones, it is dependent on the Mobile Operators Network.

In 2008, DStv MOBILE launched broadcast mobile TV services in Namibia, Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria; and has a trial service in South Africa.

In 2010, a commercial 3G streaming service was launched in South Africa through Vodacom's mulit media portal Vodafone live!
