MultiChoice's Reach Out initiative creates opportunities for our customers to participate in our social investment activities. Customer nominate a charity/orphanage of their choice to receive a gift. The nomination is via the MultiChoice internet or SMS charged at normal cellphone rates.

2009’s chosen charities for the Reach Out Winter Campaign:
Charity: Tapologo Hospice – Phokeng
Nominated by: Ratanang Nkhe from Johannesburg
Tapologo Hospice is situated in Phokeng village, Rustenburg. It was started in 1997 by a Catholic nursing sister, Georgina Boswell, and Bishop Kevin Dowling, who realised that there was a huge need to help people deal with HIV/AIDS in the community.
Tapologo has four areas of specialty:
- home-based care which attends to more than 1,000 patients a year;
- caring for orphans and vulnerable children – currently there are 320 children being looked after;
- providing anti-retroviral therapy to more than 700 patients a year; and
- operating and maintaining the in-patient unit which has admitted 800 patients since it was started up in October 2004.
Charity: Anna Foundation- Cape Town
Nominated by: Johnny Brom from Cape Town
Anna Foundation assists disadvantaged schools and communities by providing academic, social and environmental support and equipping children with skills for life long learning. Anna Foundation recognises each child as unique and special and aim to support the holistic development of the child.

2007’s chosen charities for the Winter Campaign:
Two customers were selected. Each customer wond a De Longhi oil heater and the winning charities each received 1000 blankets and R25 000 grocery voucher. The customers and winning charities were:
Petro Fagan for the Ditshego House, Centurion
Centurion-based Ditshego House, which takes care of vulnerable children, was officially opened in June 2007. The house forms part of a network of six non-governmental organisations which focus on vulnerable children in and around Olivenhoutbosch, Irene and Centurion.
Christa Mrtignone for the Catholic-based St John’s Centre in Barbeton.
The centre was started in 1998 as an adult day care for people living with HIV/Aids and now also cares for orphans and vulnerable children. Although the centre operates under the Witbank Diocese, it does not derive any financial assistance from the church and relies solely on donations.
